Sanity + Staying Healthy = Prep Ahead
- Prep breakfast for the am (especially mine since I’m so busy in the am it can easily be forgotten) My favourite make ahead breakfast these days is Overnight Oats which I always add cinnamon essential oils and fresh berries to!
- Cut up all the produce for the week. When anyone is hungry between meals, it’s so easy to pull out peppers or cucumbers, or carrots that are already cut. Out the door & need a little something, an apple or grapes that are already washed are my go to!
- Prep the smoothies for the week! Smoothies are a favorite in my house! Easy to whip up, healthy, refreshing, filling! It’s even easier if you prep ahead of time! Take out large freezer ziplocs for the week a put enough fruit & veggies in each bag for 1 smoothie. Freeze! All you have to do is add the liquid when its smoothie time! Trust me, cutting down 5 minutes in my day makes the world of difference, especially when it involves food!
Well it seems summer has really taken over in every aspect of my life (especially my posts that were suppose to be regular). With so many good intentions of adding a new post this summer, I was always drawn to spending more time with my kids & really just living in the moment (and crashing at night!). So, here I am, back at it!!!!
Being a mompreneur and having 3 boys (1, 3, 7) it’s a struggle to get things done! I love fitness and healthy eating but do I always succeed…NO WAY! Life gets in the way. Here’s a snap shot of what works best for me to stay sane, healthy, and active…the key is to PREPARE!!! My Sunday evenings are my “prep” times.
- Wash ALL fresh produce (I dump it all in the sink with some vinegar & citrus essential oils). Let it soak while I start a bit of baking!!!
- Make a couple batches of healthy muffins OR healthy granola bars (my go to 20 min recipe).
- Workout for the week!!! Take a glance at my week and SCHEDULE it in!
- Finally, my laundry mound has grown immensely over the weekend. I typically relax in front of the TV while folding 7 overflowing baskets of laundry! 7 YES, that’s right. For some reason even though I do laundry throughout the week I always have 7 to fold on Sunday.
