Let's talk about my favourite superfoods that are easy to add to your morning smoothie.
My mornings are usually very rushed with getting out the door or getting myself infront of my computer to get some work done. But it is so important for me to start my day off strong so that i’m set up for an amazing day!
The first 60min. of my day usually includes a smoothie.
Why is a smoothie a valid meal replacement?
In addition to a fruit and vegetable smoothie, protein, healthy fats, fibre and a wide array of vitamins make it a suitable meal replacement.
Here are some of my favourite superfoods to add to my smoothies:
Acai - high in antioxidants, fibre and vitamin C. Blends well with berries, pineapple or mango.
Allspice - contains eugenol which is an antioxidant, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Blends well with apples and pears.
Almonds - rich in vitamins and minerals like zinc and vitamin E. Blends well to smoothies with bananas, pears or oats.
Cacao - high in manganese, fibre and iron, also anti-inflammatory, natural stimulant. Blends well with bananas, coconut or nuts.
Cashews - healthy monounsaturated fatty acids and protein. Blends well with green smoothies!
Cayenne - rich in vitamins and minerals like vitamin C, B, E, potassium, manganese and flavonoids. Blend with pineapple or mango.
Matcha - has amino acids and catechins antioxidants. Blends well with bananas, kiwi or cucumber.
Quinoa - contains all 20 amino acids which are necessary to create protein. Blends easily with anything, makes it creamier.
Wheatgrass - has more than 90 minerals, essential enzymes and 19 amino acids. Blends well with citrus fruits or ginger.
Hemp Seeds - contain 3-7 grams of protein per tablespoon! In addition, full of essential fatty acids. Blends well with banana or avocado smoothies.
